• The appearance of the Mahdi, a righteous leader who will guide the Muslim Ummah.
• The descent of Prophet Isa (Jesus), who will defeat the Dajjal (Antichrist).
• The rising of the sun from the west, a phenomenon that will mark the closing of the door of repentance.

The Events of the Day of Judgment

The Qur’an and Hadith describe the Day of Judgment as a day of unimaginable events, unlike anything humanity has ever witnessed. It is described as a day of turmoil, fear, and awe.

1. Resurrection of All Beings: Every human, from the beginning of time to the end, will be brought back to life. Allah says:“And the Horn will be blown, and at once they will be from the graves to their Lord…” (Qur’an 36:51)
2. The Gathering: All of humanity will be gathered on a vast plain for the final reckoning. The sun will be brought close, and people will be sweating in anxiety based on their deeds.
3. The Reckoning: Each person’s deeds will be weighed, and their record of actions will be laid bare before them. Those who have done good will receive their book of deeds in their right hand, while those who have done evil will receive it in their left hand or from behind their back.
4. The Bridge of Sirat: A bridge finer than a hair and sharper than a sword will be laid over Hellfire. Only those who had true faith and performed righteous deeds will cross it safely, while others will fall into the depths of Hell.

Preparing for the Day of Judgment

The reality of the Day of Judgment reminds us to live with purpose and accountability. Here are a few ways to prepare:

1. Repentance: Constantly seek forgiveness for sins, both minor and major. Allah is the Most Forgiving, and He loves those who repent sincerely.
2. Performing Good Deeds: Be consistent in acts of worship such as prayer, charity, fasting, and maintaining good character.
3. Helping Others: One of the greatest acts that will weigh heavily on the scales is kindness to others, especially in the form of charity, spreading beneficial knowledge, or guiding someone to goodness.
4. Dua: Ask Allah to grant you a good ending and success on the Day of Judgment. The Prophet (PBUH) taught us to regularly recite:”O Turner of the hearts, keep my heart firm upon Your religion.” (Sahih Muslim)
